My Love of Color: Artistic Inspiration from Color

Color has fascinated me for as long as I can remember. Even as a child, I was never particularly interested in following trends or fitting into what everyone else liked. Instead, I was drawn to the emotions and energy that colors created. Certain shades seemed to speak directly to me long before I understood why.

I have always loved cool colors — purples, turquoise, blues, and greens especially. Those shades felt calming, expressive, creative, and alive. On the other hand, I strongly disliked red and often felt disconnected from many warmer tones. My preferences were clear very early in life, and honestly, they have never changed much.

As a child of the 1970s, I was completely devoted to Garanimals and loved putting together colorful, perfectly matching outfits. The brighter and more colorful something was, the more I loved it. Looking back, it makes perfect sense that color eventually became such an important part of my creative work and personal style.

Today, my love of color is deeply reflected in the jewelry and pieces I create. I naturally gravitate toward the colors that inspire me most, both emotionally and artistically. There is also a practical side to that choice — if a piece doesn’t sell and it happens to feature one of my favorite color palettes, I am more than happy to wear it or keep it myself.

What makes color so powerful is the way it affects emotion. Soft blues can feel soothing and peaceful. Purples often feel rich, creative, and empowering. Reds and oranges can create warmth, intensity, passion, or energy. Every color tells a story and evokes a different emotional response.

I truly believe color can influence mood, emotion, and even the way we experience a season of life. Paying attention to the colors you are naturally drawn to can become a meaningful tool for self-awareness and emotional support. Sometimes the colors we crave most are connected to what we need emotionally — comfort, calmness, energy, confidence, or joy.

For me, color has never simply been decorative. It has always been emotional, expressive, and deeply personal. That passion continues to inspire every piece I create.
